About Us
We bought Trecorras Farm in 2011 and very soon recognised the significant environmental benefits of farming in a sustainable way, making the most of the soils that we have and avoiding food waste. We both strongly believe this is the only way forward for the future. John has a background in farming, having been brought up on his family’s farm in neighbouring Gloucestershire and after attending agricultural college in Gloucestershire has had a successful career in agriculture. Julie comes from the Peak District and grew up with a love of the countryside and rural communities. She runs her own succesful Planning Consultancy Business started in 2006, which specialises in rural planning issues.
Our passion for the environment and for food with provenance produced to high welfare standards and in a sustainable way resonates with Chefs and restaurants and we are proud to supply some fabulous restaurants, butchers and farm shops.
Johns commitment to the environment and his enthusiasm to implement more sustainable methods of farming lead to him being chosen to be a finalist in the British Farming Award 2017 Arable Innovator of the Year group. Over the past few years John has been working with various environmental groups to improve the quality of soils and prevent pollution into our rivers and stream. This year on Trecorras Farm we have gone a step further and moved away from traditional agronomy towards regenerative farming which reduces significantly the amount of pesticides and fungicides we spray on the crops, with the ultimate aim to lose them all together.
In summer 2019 we started letting out our lovely Trecorras Cottage for holidays so lots of people can enjoy the fabulous peace and quiet and stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
We care about where our food comes from and how it is grown and we want to give you the opportunity to enjoy our fabulous rare breed grass fed beef.
We’re so lucky to farm in the beautiful county of Herefordshire. We’re proud of our Herefordshire roots and the county’s strong agricultural and food heritage. We’re delighted to be one of the many local food producers building on this heritage today.
We constantly strive to make our business diverse and sustainable. This is equally important to us from an environmental point of view, as well as a financial one. We focus on growing cereal crops and grass for seed, borage for the pharmaceutical company and oil seed rape. This year has seen John install a seed cleaner to make sure our crops achieve the highest standards when they leave the farm.
